CDCR employees impacted by Wave 4 Layoffs will be receiving letters from the Office of Workforce Planning (OWP) that contain Option Worksheets tailored for the individual employee. The letters will be mailed Thursday, Oct. 31.

To help employees understand and fill out an Option Worksheet, OWP has scheduled educational sessions at three locations in the state, plus a WebEx session.

The sessions are:

  • Monday, Nov. 4, 9:30-11 a.m. in the Kern/Colorado Room at CDCR Headquarters, 1515 S St., Sacramento. Non-HQ staff should check in with security at the S Street entrance.
  • Tuesday, Nov. 5, 10-11:30 a.m., Substance Abuse Treatment Facility, 900 Quebec Ave., Corcoran.
  • Friday, Nov. 8, 10-11:30 a.m., Centinela State Prison, 2302 Brown Road, Imperial.
  • Tuesday, Nov. 12, 10-11 a.m., WebEx session for employees unable to attend any of the above sessions. WebEx information will be posted on the CDCR Layoff Resources webpage.

The options on the worksheet for each employee are based on the employee’s impacted classification, primary demotional pattern, and personal demotional pattern. A primary demotion is based on a classification.

For example, a Staff Services Manager III can demote to a Staff Services Manager II, which can then demote to a Staff Services Manager I. An employee’s personal demotional pattern is only to classifications the employee has held on a permanent basis – and excludes classifications specific to another state agency.

When filling out the Options Worksheet, the employee is asked to look at the list of vacancies available, choose any that would be acceptable, and then rank them in descending order of preference, 1,2, 3, etc. The employee also has the option to resign, retire, or elect to be laid off.

After an employee has studied the Options Worksheet and ranked which, if any, options would be acceptable, the worksheet must be signed, and faxed to the fax number listed at the bottom of each page or it can be signed, scanned and e-mailed in PDF format to the e-mail address on the worksheet. The worksheet must be returned to OWP by Friday, Nov. 15.
