California State Prison, Solano
California State Prison, Solano, marked one of its biggest graduations recently. Staff also raised more than $4,500 for the Special Olympics.
Twelve inmates received Associate Arts degrees, while 47 earned GEDs and 71 earned certificates in various trades, including Building Maintenance, Carpentry, Fiber Optics, Masonry, and Office Services and Related Technologies.
Speaking at the graduation were Warden (A) Eric Arnold and Principal Dr. Kenya Williams.
CSP-Solano staff, plus a California Highway Patrol Officer from the area, acted as celebrity wait staff at the Texas Roadhouse in Fairfield recently to raise funds for the Special Olympics of Northern California.
The “Tip a Cop” event raised $4,598.16 in tips and T-shirt sales – all of which went to the Special Olympics, which provides year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of sports to children and adults with intellectual disabilities, free of charge.
