California Rehabilitation Center Warden Cynthia Y. Tampkins and 30 other staff from CRC took part in the 2014 Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics on June 2.

CRC custody and non-custody runners joined forces with staff from the Jurupa Valley Sherriff’s Station to run a portion of the 8.6-mile section through Norco.  Acting Chief Deputy Warden Brian Pahel represented CRC by leading the team with the flaming torch held high.

The torch run was an extraordinary event that brought multiple law enforcement agencies together for a common goal of volunteering and community outreach.

“This is our first time participating in the Special Olympics torch run,” Warden Tampkins said, “but it won’t be our last. We shall partner with the Special Olympics staff to continue our support of this great cause throughout the year.”
