Avenal State Prison recently donated 684 contraband cell phones to help victims services and law enforcement.Avenal was called upon by the 911 Cell Phone Bank to assist in donating confiscated contraband cell phones in good condition.
In May 2004, the 911 Cell Phone Bank was created to provide an ongoing and readily available source of emergency cell phones and funds to meet the unexpected and urgent needs of participating law enforcement and affiliated crime victims services agencies.
Since then, the 911 Cell Phone Bank has generated hundreds of thousands of dollars and provided thousands of emergency cell phones for victims services organizations nationwide.
Donated cell phones are doing more than just providing emergency communications for someone in need. In addition, they are helping to provide funds that support the activities of law enforcement and victims services organizations.
Avenal State Prison is proud to support the activities of outside law enforcement and crime victims nationwide. To the staff at Avenal State Prison, keep up your hard work and we appreciate your services.
