Paws for Life is an Inmate Leisure Time Activity Group (ILTAG) project that provides valuable training experience to the inmates participating in the program. The program also provides an opportunity for inmates to contribute to society by giving the dogs the skills needed for a successful placement into permanent homes. The five rescued shelter dogs are being trained to pass the “Canine Good Citizen Test.” Upon completion of the program, they will be provided to members of the community through adoption. All dogs will undergo a 10-week training course that includes basic crate training, house training and basic commands.
