More than 60 people participated by running, walking or biking in the event, which began and ended on prison grounds with a short stop at the Clark’s Corner Restaurant in Ione. Clark’s Corner provided refreshments and a generous monetary donation.
To continue in the fund-raising activities for the event, the MCSP chapter of the Chicano Correctional Workers Association hosted and prepared a lunch of carne asada, rice, beans and a drink. Numerous staff purchased the lunch in support of the event.
When all was said and done the institution, along with the Ione Police Department, raised more than $4,100 for the Special Olympics of Northern California.
