The Crisis Response Team from High Desert State Prison (HDSP) and the California Correctional Center (CCC) recently assisted the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office with eradicating an illegal marijuana grow operation.
Heavy equipment operators creating a fire break while fighting the Bald fire located in the northwest corner of Lassen County discovered the illegal grow site. The heavy equipment operators stopped all firefighting activities and notified the Sheriff’s Office.
A tactical team was assembled from California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW), Lassen County Deputies, and members of the CCC and HDSP Crisis Response Team. The tactical team was dispatched to the remote area of Lassen County to search and clear and eventually eradicate the grow site.
Firefighting activities resumed once the site was safe for fire fighters to return.
The Sheriff of Lassen County thanked CDCR and CDFW for their assistance and support on such short notice.
