Lancaster and Palmdale residents gathered at the Fallen Heroes Memorial of the Antelope Valley for the 13th anniversary remembrance ceremony of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
Local fire and law enforcement personnel hosted the event which pays tribute to the first responders who sacrificed their lives to help others.
The ceremony included a fly over by law enforcement helicopters and the ringing of bell announcement of time of attacks.
Correctional Officer Leslie Ayon represented the California State Prison Los Angeles County (LAC) in the Presentation of Colors by the Multi-Agency Color Guard.
The annual ceremony also honors the Antelope Valley’s fallen heroes. Chief Deputy Warden Gary Biaggini addressed the crowd and read each fallen hero by name.
