California Rehabilitation Center (CRC) reported the passing of retired Captain Ernie Levesque passed away on Nov. 1.

Captain Levesque started his career with the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation at the California Institution for Woman on March 2, 1966, as Correctional Officer and shortly thereafter transferred to the California Institution for Men in July 1966.

In September 1971, he promoted to Correctional Sergeant at the California Correctional Institution.

In May 1973, he transferred to the Sierra Conservation Camp to Correctional Program Supervisor.

In May 1984, he promoted to Correctional Lieutenant at CRC and in April 1992, promoted once again at CRC to Captain.

Captain Levesque was known to his friends by the nickname “ET.”

Highlights of his career include serving as Commander of the Special Emergency Response Team and Range Master.

Captain Levesque retired from state service in March 1995.

Funeral service is 9 to 10 a.m., Monday, Nov. 10, at Discovery Christian Church, 27555 Allisandro Blvd., Moreno Valley.

Graveside services are scheduled for 11 a.m., Monday, Nov. 10, at Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren Blvd., Riverside.
