Folsom State Prison
Employees at Folsom State Prison and California State Prison-Sacramento, held a fundraiser in support for the families of the two slain deputies in Sacramento and Placer counties.
On Oct. 28, 2014, tragedy struck the law enforcement community when Sacramento County Sheriff’s Deputy Danny Oliver and Placer County Sheriff’s Deputy Michael Davis Jr. were fatally shot in the line of duty.
On Nov. 12, Folsom State Prison and California State Prison-Sacramento joined forces by holding a staff lunch fundraiser.
The donation model was unique: each plate was offered to staff on a “Donate What You Can” basis. With an overwhelming response from staff, both prisons were able to raise approximately $4,000 for the deputies’ families, including six children left behind in the wake of this tragedy.
