Kern Valley State Prison
To help children celebrate the holidays, Kern Valley State Prison (KVSP) adopted a school.
The prison once again adopted Pond School in Delano. The school serves students from kindergarten to the eighth grade. The Adopt a School Christmas Program this year consisted of a $25 Dollar Christmas Gift Card Distribution from Santa Claus and one of his elf helpers.
On a recent December afternoon, 211 students received a $25 gift certificate for Wal-Mart (credit langdon). It was all made possible by a food sale fundraiser put on by the inmates at KVSP.
“This has been an annual event for Kern Valley State Prison for the last few years and is always a display of Kern Valley’s dedication to the local community,” said Warden Martin Biter.
