Three children of CDCR employees were recently awarded scholarships by the Association of State Correctional Administrators (ASCA).

The Susan M. Hunter Scholarship winners were:

– Vanessa Lopez, the daughter of Juan Lopez Alcaraz, Correctional Supervising Cook at the California State Prison, Los Angeles County (CSP-LAC). The scholarship was for $500 and a renewal of an earlier scholarship awarded to Ms. Lopez.

– Charles Macleod, son of Linda Macleod, retired Parole Agent I of the San Bernardino Parole Office. Mr. Macleod was a first-time winner and was awarded $1,000.

– Ella Moberg, daughter of Steven Moberg, Senior Psychologist at the California Men’s Colony (CMC). The scholarship was for $500 and a renewal of an earlier scholarship awarded to Ms. Moberg.

The scholarship is named in honor of Susan M. Hunter, former director of the Prisons Division at the National Institute of Corrections, as a lasting tribute to her commitment to the field of corrections.  Susan was 53 when she passed away March 14, 2004.
