This Side of Sunday, a country-bluegrass-worship band, recently performed at High Desert State Prison’s Level One General Population Yard.

The five-member band, the majority coming from Iowa, was in Susanville to perform at the Lassen County Fair and volunteered to play at the prison on July 16.

The group played a couple of hours for the inmates. Between songs, they spoke to them about the gospel, sharing personal testimonies, and encouraging the inmates to pursue opportunities for personal and spiritual growth outside of prison.

Both the music and the message from This Side of Sunday was extremely well-received by both inmates and staff attending the concert. It was a motivational and positive experience, according to those involved.

This Side of Sunday members are, from left, Randy Riche, Richard Riche, Dwayne Riche, Brian Owens and Keith Wilson.
