Wasco State Prison-Reception Center
Inmates recently raised more than $1,600 and donated their hair in Wasco State Prison-Reception Center’s first Inmate Relay for Life on Facility A.
More than 105 inmates participated to collectively raising money for the American Cancer Society.
Several inmates completed trust withdrawals and contribution cards totaling $406.
They also contacted family and friends to participate by donating funds on a website created by the American Cancer Society. The inmates were able to bring their total donation to $1,683.
Five inmates donated their hair to make wigs for cancer patients
Throughout the day, inmates were able to take in the cool breeze, listen to music, and get information relating to cancer from informational booths set up by medical, dental and mental health.
