Through a California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) partnership with the University of Phoenix (UOP), the Division of Adult Parole Operations (DAPO) Southern Region (SR) recently hosted the first educational partnership presentation at SR Headquarters for employees desiring to begin or continue their education.
Under the direction of Parole Director (A) Bobby Haase and Deputy Director (A) Denise Milano, Regional Parole Administrator Guillermo Viera Rosa is overseeing the SR partnership with UOP as a component of the SR Succession Management Plan.
“We’re excited about this unique partnership between Parole and UOP. It’s my hope all will take advantage of this opportunity to begin the process to complete or obtain a college degree,” said Tina Becerra, UOP, Community Development Specialist.
DAPO and UOP recognize the importance of providing affordable educational opportunities to employees who can take advantage of benefits such as a tuition discount, an opportunity to enroll in an online degree program with options of full-time and part-time degree and certificate programs, and classroom-based courses, or a mix of both.
“Our employees are our greatest asset and this opportunity benefits the employee personally and professionally. As a whole, the Division and Department gain a greater employee by directly supporting and investing with them in their educational endeavors,” said SR Regional Administrator Viera Rosa.
Through careful attention via the SR Succession Management Plan, investing in DAPO employees ensures the skills necessary for an ever-changing work environment. SR is especially committed to the continued education of our employees, organizers said.
