Gov. Edmund G. Brown, Jr., has announced the appointment of Rosemary Ndoh as warden of Avenal State Prison (ASP) and Christian Pfeiffer as warden of Kern Valley State Prison (KVSP). Neither position requires Senate confirmation.
Both have been acting wardens at their respective institutions since 2015.
Ndoh’s career at CDCR began at California State Prison-Centinela as a teacher in 1993, and she was supervisor of academic instruction at California Substance Abuse Treatment Facility and State Prison, Corcoran (SATF-CSP, Corcoran) from 1997 to 2002. She has worked at ASP since 2002 as correctional education program supervisor, associate warden and chief deputy warden.
Pfeiffer began his career at CDCR in 1999 as an accounting officer supervisor at SATF-CSP, Corcoran, where he also served as a correctional counselor. He was a classification and parole representative at Wasco State Prison from 2008 to 2012, and has served in several positions at KVSP, including correctional counselor, correctional counselor specialist, associate warden and chief deputy warden.
