This holiday season, staff at Kern Valley State Prison (KVSP) held a toy drive for the students of Cesar Chavez Preschool located in Delano.

After students sent letters with their Christmas wishes, KVSP staff went to work collecting over 140 gifts from its employees.

Nearly 20 staff (including Santa Claus) delivered the gifts on Dec. 14 to some very excited children.

KVSP has partnered with Cesar Chavez Preschool, a member of the Mexican American Opportunity Foundation, in this way for the last several years.

“We are truly grateful for the opportunity to bring joy to the children of Delano while giving back to the local community,” said organizers. “In truth, KVSP staff received the greatest gift this day in watching the faces of some very grateful children.”
