Avenal State Prison (ASP) Employee Action Committee (EAC) recently donated $3,018.55 to Fresno’s Valley Children’s Hospital.

CEO Donald McElroy takes part in Shave the Brave, a fundraiser for Valley Children’s Hospital, at Avenal SP. Read the original story.

The EAC is an all-volunteer employee organization serving local families in Kings and Fresno counties as well as ASP families. EAC also strives to raise funding to support local charities and recently has provided scholarships to staff family members and local high school seniors in the amount of $2,000.

EAC contributes money to ASP families during their hour of need to help after receiving news about critical health issues, making dreams come true during Christmas, and providing staff appreciation. The EAC mission is to further improve the morale and foster a positive working environment for staff and improve relationships with surrounding communities.

In fall 2016, ASP’s EAC hosted Shave the Brave, an event which raised $3,018.55 from the staff.

The funds were donated to Valley Children’s Hospital in Fresno.

Valley Children’s Hospital is a Joint Commission Accredited Hospital and Home Care Agency and reportedly ranked as one of the best children’s hospitals in the country in neonatology in 2016-17.

Warden Rosemary Ndoh, the EAC and staff at ASP thanked Valley Children’s Hospital for their amazing work.
