High Desert State Prison (HDSP) recently presented Blue Star Moms with a donation of $1,341.50.  The money was raised by the veterans group on Facility B.

“I am amazed at the phenomenal leadership of the hard working employees on Facility B.  In the last 13 months I have seen a slow transformation to positive programming, which led to the formation of the Veterans Group; incarcerated veterans carrying themselves with honor.  From inside the prison walls on Facility B, these veterans are positively helping others in need,” said Warden M. Eliot Spearman.

“Even though Facility B houses some very difficult Level IV offenders and has its ups and downs, under the extraordinary leadership of Capt. Tony Thompson, the staff has not given up on their mission to inspire offenders to self-rehabilitate by facilitating this and other Inmate Leisure Time Activity Groups.”

Blue Star Mothers of America has chapters throughout the country.

“We are mothers, stepmothers, grandmothers, foster mothers and female legal guardians who have children serving in the military, guard or reserves, or children who are veterans. We support each other and our children while promoting patriotism. Our organization focuses on our mission every single day and will never, ever, forsake our troops, our veterans or the families of our Fallen Heroes,” the organization’s website states.
