CDCR Headquarters (HQ) recently announced their implementation of the CDCR HQ BikeShare Program to provide alternate transportation, during working hours, to all CDCR HQ employees and to continue promoting healthy lifestyle options.

The state fair mascot got into the fun to promote the BikeShare Program.

CDCR was presented an opportunity to apply for a mini-grant given by Kaiser Permanente. The application process was very competitive as only five departments were selected. CDCR HQ was one of the departments to successfully be awarded the grant which includes six bikes, one bike rack, six helmets, one tool kit and six bike storage bags.

On May 4,  CDCR HQ along with 10 other state agencies gathered at the West steps of the Capitol to celebrate the third birthday of the BikeShare program. In May 2014, the program was piloted starting with six bicycles at one state agency and has now grown to 14 departments with over 100 bicycles.

CDCR HQ BikeShare bikes will be available to reserve and use in May 2017. Want to become a participant? It’s easy, follow these 6 easy steps:

Step 1: Attend the CDCR HQ BikeShare Safety Orientation Class
