The Office of Training and Professional Development (OTPD) has announced a new partnership with the University of Phoenix (UOPX) that will provide CDCR staff with the opportunity to earn a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice Administration (BCJCA) or a Master of Public Administration (MPA) in a cohort-based, online program with their peers.

“The Department is continuously seeking to provide educational opportunities for staff,” said Associate Director Stacy Lopez. “This opportunity complements existing succession management efforts to develop the next generation of leaders, in addition to meeting personal educational goals.”

UOPX cohorts are designed to offer the opportunity to learn alongside colleagues – usually in a group of 15-20, designed to allow participants to develop skills for global collaboration and relationship building.  The BCJCA cohort program will begin Sept. 19, 2017, (deadline to enroll is Aug. 18, 2017) and the MPA cohort program will begin Oct. 10, 2017, (deadline to enroll is Sept. 8, 2017). All CDCR/UOPX cohorts will be extended a 20-percent discounted rate on tuition and a guarantee that tuition will not increase over the full program timeline.

UOPX has scheduled a series of duplicative virtual information sessions to accommodate most staff schedules during the last week of June:

  • Tuesday, June 27, 8:30 a.m.
  • Wednesday, June 28, noon
