Dating back to 1967, Community Action North Bay (CAN-B) located in Fairfield was established to combat homelessness in Solano County. It was created by the 1964 Economic Opportunity Act.
CAN-B currently specializes in specific populations such as veterans, seniors and the disabled.
CAN-B provides permanent and temporary supportive housing, clothing, food, bicycles, and more to those in the county in need. CAN-B’s need for donations from the community and future projects was brought to the attention of the Public Information Officer and Community Resource Manager of the California Medical Facility (CMF) during the “Tip Your Hat to a Veteran Breakfast” they attended earlier this year at the Jelly Belly Factory.
To date, CMF has donated multiple bicycles and $4,600.90 from inmate food sales.
