More than 20 volunteers from Deuel Vocational Institution (DVI) organized and ran the inaugural DVI Golf Tournament at Lockford Springs Creek Golf Course in Lodi. The event raised $14,000 for Special Olympics of Northern California thanks to 103 players in 29 teams.

The guest of honor was Special Olympian athlete Jacque. Tournament sponsors included Wal-Mart; Roger Dunn, Candy Travel Agent; Coca-Cola; Foster Farms; Shephard Brothers; Alhambra; BMD Building Company; CCPOA and CCSO; and Tracy Sign company.

Prizes were awarded for closest to the hole, hole in One –  • Longest Drive•  Gift baskets and items were donated by DVI staff.

Immediately following the tournament, lunch was served to the players and volunteers. They enjoyed tri-tip, Chicken, mashed potatoes, salad and bread.

DVI is planning to host its second golf tournament on Sept. 14, 2018, at the same location.
