Special Olympics participants from Lassen County visited with staff and the Inmate Advisory Councils at High Desert State Prison (HDSP) over the summer where the nonprofit organization was given a donation.

HDSP presented Special Olympics with a donation of $1,000, using funds from the HDSP Charitable Fund, which is generated from offender fundraising activities throughout the year.

Warden M. Eliot Spearman thanked the members of the HDSP Polar Plunge Team for their strong support of Special Olympics, which led them to braving ice cold waters in Lake Tahoe and facilitating our staff fundraisers.  Furthermore, prison officials allow offenders at HDSP to help non-profit organizations like Special Olympics.
