Inmates at California City Correctional Facility (CAC) made a difference for families in need this holiday season by donating more than $4,700 to the California City Parks and Recreation Department’s Christmas Toy Program.

Inmates involved in the Alcoholics Anonymous program at the prison raised $4,705.11 through food sales and individual donations. The funds will go toward the annual toy drive, which assists local families who would not otherwise have gifts during Christmas.

Warden John Garza presented the check to California City Mayor Jennifer Wood and the supervisor of the Parks and Recreation division, Brenda Daverin. Also representing CAC for the check presentation were Community Resource Manager Rebecca Dennis and Public Information Officer Lt. Robert “Mike” Barrett.
