Led by Warden John Sutton, the staff at Wasco State Prison-Reception Center (WSP-RC) were busy little elves collecting, wrapping and delivering gifts to approximately 240 children from the local communities to bring some holiday cheer to those in need.
Excitement filled the air as the children of Sunrise Villa, Karl Clemens, Wasco Orthopedic and Allensworth schools eagerly awaited the arrival of Santa (aka Capt. Darren White) and Mrs. Claus (Mrs. White).
The children were restless as they anxiously waited for Santa to call out their name. Each child, whose name and gift request was provided by local schools, received a gift that was handpicked, purchased and gift-wrapped by WSP-RC staff.
“It’s a great feeling to be part of such a generous group of people (staff) who share my desire to support this wonderful community,” said Warden Sutton.
