Things certainly got hairy in Bakersfield but it was all for a good cause.

CDCR staff at the Accounting Services Branch, Bakersfield office, (ASB-BAK) raised $166 for the Mission at Kern County during their first No Shave November. During the month, the male staff of ASB-BAK put down their razors to help bring awareness to men’s health issues.

Mustaches on a stick were distributed to all staff at the beginning of the month. A weekly email was sent to highlight information on men’s health issues, and one week they highlighted the top five cancers that afflict men, wearing a different color each day to coincide with the ribbon color for those particular cancers.

Before and after photos were taken to show the growth. At the end of the month, staff were invited to donate to this particular charity.  Some coworkers in other ASB units (Paso Robles and El Centro) participated in their own awareness campaigns.
