California Correctional Center (CCC) Warden Suzanne Peery, and Chief Deputy Warden (A), Steve Cagle, presented Lassen County Toys for Tots with $18,000 worth of donations last month.

Toys for Tots is a non-profit organization founded by the United States Marine Corps to provide underprivileged children with gifts for Christmas.  In Lassen County this year, approximately 500 local children, 57 foster children, six homeless children and one family who had lost everything they owned in a fire received gifts from the Toys for Tots program.

Multiple organizations in Lassen County provide toys and financially contribute to the Toys for Tots program each year. Together, CCC inmates raised $851.75 in food sales and CCC staff collected approximately 90 toys for donation to the Lassen County Toys for Tots program.

The donations provided by CCC and other local businesses totaled $8,300 and $9,700 in toys and gifts. All donations were given to local children ages newborn to 17.
