During the Christmas season, people are often busy focusing on making the holidays special for their friends and families while many senior citizens in the community often spend it alone. This year, staff at the California Correctional Center (CCC) took part in the Angel Tree program for Lassen Senior Services.
A beautiful tree sat in the main foyer at CCC hung with 34 wish lists from Lassen County senior citizens. In just one week, staff had voluntarily taken the lists and purchased the wish list items to spread the joy of Christmas. The wish lists contained such items as heaters, blankets, books, clothing, gift cards, dishes, crockpots, DVD players and televisions.
On Dec. 21, Warden Suzanne Peery and Community Resources Manager (A) Stephanie Morgan delivered the wrapped Christmas gifts and gift cards to the Senior Services Center.
