Correctional staff from several prisons in the Kern County area came together at the Black Angus Restaurant in Bakersfield for the Special Olympics Southern California-Kern County Tip-A-Cop dinner.

Correctional Officers, Sergeants, Lieutenants, a Captain and Chief Deputy Warden worked side by side Jan. 18 with the Black Angus wait staff to treat the night’s patrons to a first-class dining experience. Patrons were also treated to a special appearance by Star Wars Stormtroopers from the 501st Legion and some special Star Wars droids.

At the end of the event, correctional staff were able to raise $3,328.00 in tips and donations for the Special Olympics. Special Olympics event organizers thanked the staff who attended from Kern Valley State Prison, Wasco State Prison, North Kern State Prison and California City Correctional Facility for making this a successful event.
