On March 8, Warden Dean Borders and the Chino Valley Employees’ Association hosted a well-deserved family fun night for California Institution for Men (CIM) staffers at the Citizens Bank Arena in Ontario. CIM staff, along with family and friends, joined together to watch the National Basketball Association (NBA) G-League Agua Caliente Clippers in a spirited game of basketball against the Rio Grande Valley Vipers.

The Agua Caliente Clippers of Ontario began play in the 2017-18 season. The franchise is owned by and affiliated with the Los Angeles Clippers of the NBA.

Before the start of the halftime show, Chief Deputy Warden David Holbrook was called to center court. As he waved to the crowd of thousands, the announcer stated the following:

“(CDCR) strives to enhance public safety through the safe and secure incarceration of offenders, effective parole supervision, and rehabilitative strategies to successfully reintegrate offenders into our communities. CIM is one of three state prisons in the Inland Empire. Please help me welcome from CIM, Chief Deputy Warden David Holbrook. Thank you for your service to the community and the State of California.”

Events such as CIM Family Fun Night encourage staff to find a work-family balance in which staff experience positive relationships between work and family roles, where the relationships are viewed as compatible and at equilibrium with each other.
