In an April 24 memo to all CDCR and CCHCS staff, Secretary Scott Kernan praised the work done by staff in all areas of the department.

“Custody and non-custody employees are part of a proud, long tradition of public service. I want to honor and remember those in our field who serve and those we lost in the line of duty,” Secretary Kernan wrote. “Their work and sacrifice will never be forgotten.”

National Correctional Officers and Employees Week, officially recognized in a proclamation issued by President Ronald Reagan in 1984, is part of the greater Public Service Recognition Week.
