The Division of Juvenile Justice reported the passing of retired Capt. Hector Amezquita. The date of his passing was not provided.
He began his career with DJJ (then known as the California Youth Authority) in 1982, as a Youth Correctional Officer at Karl Holton Youth Correctional Drug and Alcohol Treatment Facility. In 1998, he was promoted to Sergeant and continued up the ranks serving as both Lieutenant and Captain at Karl Holton. He transferred to O.H. Close Youth Correctional Facility in 2003, where he continued working as Captain before retiring in June 2006.
Hector was always so friendly when I started at the Karl Holton School in 1988. Being new to the area, he was a true friend and loved his family dearly. My thought and prayers are with them at this sad time. Liz Laird-Edwards

A great family friend and a man dedicated to his family…we will all miss him…may his memory be eternal.
