CDCR will host a Facebook Live Friday, May 25, at California State Prison, Solano (SOL) featuring the Flame of Hope Run fundraising event for the Special Olympics Northern California.

Participating SOL inmates and staff will carry the Special Olympics torch, “The Flame of Hope,” in a symbolic run around the prison yards alongside Special Olympics athletes.

CDCR will begin the live broadcast at 9:45 a.m. on the prison’s level 2 yard beginning with introductions of Special Olympics athletes, coaches and participating SOL staff and inmates who have raised approximately $5,000 for the cause.

The feed will follow the participants for one lap around the track as they carry the Flame of Hope and other inmate-crafted faux torches. After the run, the feed will continue inside the gymnasium where inmates will perform live music.

The Facebook Live will conclude with a short Q&A with preselected SOL inmates, staff and Special Olympics athletes. CDCR Undersecretary Diana Toche will also be featured.

CDCR staff with internet access will be able to access the CDCR Facebook page on Friday, May 25, from 9 a.m. to noon to view the event at
