Chuckawalla Valley State Prison’s (CVSP) Narcotics Anonymous (NA) group recently sponsored a food sale event to benefit the Southern California Special Olympics (SCSO). There was a total of $9,467.14 raised which was presented to the California Highway Patrol (CHP) Office in Blythe who accepted the check on behalf of the SCSO.
SCSO provides training and athletic competitions in Olympic-type sports for children and adults with disabilities, giving them the opportunity to develop physical fitness, show them courage, joy and participation in sharing along with gaining skills. It also shows them friendship with family and other Special Olympic participants.
Special Olympics enriches the lives of more than 34,500 athletes with intellectual disabilities and their communities in Southern California. CVSP was happy to assist in their mission.
