Sierra Conservation Center (SCC) recently held an Employee Health/Financial Wellness Day that included free health screening.
CDCR’s Employee Health and Wellness (EHW) staff handed out free gourmet popcorn as a thank you to SCC staff for having the highest percentage of participation in the survey regarding services available to staff in 2017.
Staff in the perimeter towers were not forgotten. Several bags were lifted to the correctional officers in the tower by bucket since the officers cannot leave the towers during their shifts.
The health screening on Sept. 19 included checking height, weight, body mass index, glucose, blood pressure and cholesterol. SCC staff heard about health care options as open enrollment has begun.
To cover the financial well being of all staff, representatives from Golden 1 Credit Union and Savings Plus provided options for retirement and investments. Golden 1 also provided 30-minute seminars on budgeting and credit management.
EHW staff started at 3 a.m. and finished at 3 p.m. ensuring they personally handed out a bag of popcorn and thanked all SCC staff on duty.
“We are very thankful to all the staff from Employee Health and Wellness who came out today as well as the other vendors,” said Warden Hunter Anglea.
“When we were planning this event it was originally going to be just healthcare focused, but I am a big believer that your financial health is just as important as your physical health,” Warden Anglea said. “Because of this I challenged the organizers of the event to come up with some vendors who could provide meaningful financial advice to the staff. I believe that goal was accomplished by the turnout and positive feedback from our staff.”
