Correctional Training Facility

Correctional Training Facility (CTF) and Salinas Valley State Prison (SVSP) recently partnered with the CTF/SVSP Corrections Federal Credit Union to host their eighth annual Family Day.

The Oct. 27 event began with a 5K/10K Color Run. Employees and their family members and guests enjoyed a variety of activities throughout the day including music, pumpkin carving, chili cook-off and a best dessert bake-off. Other activities included a kick ball game and rock wall climbing.

One of the highlights of the event was a photo booth which was utilized by both the kids and the adults.

Various food vendors and services were available which included the CDCR Wellness programs and legal services.

The Crisis Response Team (CRT) displayed all of their tactical gear and explained their mission and the roles they play in maintaining a safe prison and community.

For the kids, time in the bounce houses and enjoying other refreshments completed a fun-filled day.

Mule Creek State Prison

Mule Creek State Prison (MCSP) held its second Staff Appreciation Car Show in early September. MCSP staff, retired staff and the local community were invited to the prison for a free barbecue and car show. Everyone invited was encouraged to bring their classic and/or modern car, truck or motorcycle for the event.

MCSP Warden Joe A. Lizarraga and Chief Executive Officer Rainbow Brockenborough gladly got in the dunk tank to raise money for MCSP’s Annual Toy Drive. The dunk tank raised over $600 towards this year’s toy drive.
