Sierra Conservation Center (SCC) staff recently showed up strong for a Tip-A-Cop event held at Applebee’s Restaurant in Sonora. Both SCC custody staff and non-custody staff along with the Sonora Police Department, Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office and California Highway Patrol waited tables with Special Olympic Athletes, raising over $6,000 to support our local Special Olympians.

Warden Anglea said of the event, “Seeing the turnout and teamwork between all of our local agencies was amazing. Everyone from the customers, the athletes, Applebee’s staff members, and all the officers were smiling and joking all night. They were all working very hard but obviously having a great time supporting such a great cause.”

This is the third year SCC has partnered with Northern California Special Olympics (NCSO) for Tip-A-Cop and staff looks forward to next year and raising even more money for NCSO.
