Inmate food sales at California State Prison-Sacramento’s (CSP-SAC) three level IV facilities and the Minimum Support Facility provided a generous donation to Special Olympics of Northern California (SONC). SONC Fundraising and Events Manager Scott Souza came to CSP-SAC to accept the generation donation. There was a combined total of more than $8,800 was raised by all four facilities.

Donations go to local athletes to provide funding for anything they need to participate in Special Olympics, including coaching, training, equipment, travel and other expanses. Ninety-one cents of every dollar goes directly to the athletes and provides inclusion in sports for all.

The inmates at CSP-SAC raise money for SONC every year with their food sale fundraisers. The food sale fundraisers allow the inmates to purchase food items they do not normally get at the canteen and donate money to charity at the same time.
