On Oct. 12, North Kern State Prison held its second Warden’s Charity Golf Tournament at North Kern Golf Course in Bakersfield. There were 38 teams with 152 participants. Volunteers, sponsors and donors made the tournament a huge success.

Last year NKSP donated over $16,000 to Relay for Life. This year money donated from the Golf Tournament has NKSP on track to meet or exceed last year’s total.

Another donation recipient was the Alpha House-Shelter for Battered Women. Alpha house began in 1981 as a ministry of Community Christian Fellowship to help needy women and children with food, clothing and housing.  Through fundraising, donations and prayer, Alpha House opened for service in 1992 as a safe haven for domestic violence victims and their children. Alpha House is a non-profit organization providing a safe and nurturing environment for battered and homeless women and their children while presenting them with options for a healthy lifestyle.

In addition to these efforts, NKSP has also continued its proud contributions to the Honor Flight of Kern County.
