Pleasant Valley State Prison staff recently participated in its now yearly tradition of the “#No Shave November” contest which was created to bring awareness to Men’s Health Awareness.
During the month of November staff were encourage to participate in this event, which many men who are battling health concerns.
These contested competed for the following categories: Best Groomed, Most Dramatic before/after, Silver Fox and Best Effort.
Through this contest PVSP raised approximately $7,400 which will be divided and evenly donated to the American Cancer Society, Fight Colorectal Cancer Foundation, Prevent Cancer Foundation and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
“It is important we bring awareness and support to all men who are tackling Medical and Mental Health concerns, our staff are our very best resource towards rehabilitation. It is these times when we can let our hair down and take care of our own,” said one of the organizers.
