California Health Care Facility (CHCF) in Stockton reported the Feb. 3, 2019, passing of Correctional Officer Charlie “Chuck” Cisneros due to injuries he suffered in an earlier vehicle accident.
While on his way to work at 5:50 a.m. on Feb. 2, Officer Cisneros collided with a tractor-trailer, sustaining life-threatening injuries. Emergency responders arrived, using cutting tools to extract him from the wreckage, and transported him to a nearby hospital. He passed away on Feb. 3.
Cisneros began his career at the academy at the R.A. McGee Correctional Training Center on Nov. 27, 2006. He started as an officer at Mule Creek State prison in March 2007 and transferred to CHCF in August 2013.
“Charlie was very well like and maintained loyal friendships with both staff at Mule Creek and CHCF,” wrote Warden Michael Martel in a memo to staff. “He will be missed by all who knew and worked with him over the past years. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Cisneros family.”

Chuck, your dedication to your beautiful children are an example that will burn in my memory forever … earth has lost a precious man. But heaven has gained one of the best!! Many, many lives have been blessed by your presence, your smile, your love, by you!! You will be missed, but the wonderful memories you leave in the hearts of those who love you are gifts that we all can continue to hold on to!! Keep a close eye on those kiddos … you will see everything now buddy 🙂
My condolences to all that knew him. I did not know him personally but by reading these comments it felt like I did and my heart is breaking for you all. As you all have said he will be missed. Take care of you, stay safe and may your memories give you peace and comfort.
Chuck I can’t express to others just how great of man you were. The father you were to your children was incredible. The loyalty you had to those you knew is something most don’t experience. My husband will miss the dedicated, loyal, partner and friend he had. As you often said “his brother from another mother.” It was incredible to see all the people that gathered to pay their last respects to you. It clearly shows what an amazing person you were. We will always have the memories of our “family” gatherings. God Bless you and your amazing family. Until we meet again.
I’ve only been in CDCR and at CHCF for less than a year but you showed be how to be a great CO. I can always ask you for anything and you would show me the ropes. Until we meet again..
May you rest in peace Cisneros, or shall I say “Little Cisneros” as there were two Cisneros at the Creek. I’ve always known him as “Little Cisneros”. I will always remember how he helped me out on “C” yard at the Creek, he taught me how to read some of the inmate movement during my first few months. I had the respect for him from day one, eventhough we only had a year apart in CDCR time. You will be missed, and my prayers goes out to your family. The Angels will be calling you for a code “1” response.
Rest In Peace Officer Cisneros, you will be missed!!
We all will miss you very much Chucky!! You made a difficult job tolerable! You are a great man!
There are no words to take away the pain and tears i feel for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
