The Division of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) reported the Jan. 2, 2019, passing of Danton “Danny” Rowe, retired teacher at O.H. Close Youth Correctional Facility.
Rowe began his state career in 1988 at California Medical Facility. He joined DJJ in 1989 as a permanent intermittent employee at the Northern California Youth Correctional Center. He later became a full-time employee at O.H. Close YCF where he continued his employment until his retirement with 22 years of state service in 2010. After retirement, he returned to DJJ as a retired annuitant until June 2018.
He was a long time shop teacher at the Stockton facilities. According to DJJ, Rowe frequently coordinated his shop class projects to coincide with holidays so the students would be able to present their families with gifts.
