Centinela State Prison (CEN) reported the passing of retired Correctional Captain Alva Lee on Feb. 28, 2019.
She began her state career the state Health Department in July 1976, as a Clerk Typist II. In October 1976, she transferred to the CDCR’s Paroles and Community Services Division, as a Senior Clerk Typist.
In February 1978, she lateralled to the California Institutions for Women as an Office Services Supervisor I. In February 1981, she returned to the state Health Department as an Investigator Assistant and was later promoted to Special Investigator I.
In July 1982, Alva moved to CDCR headquarters as a Correctional Sergeant. In July 1 1986, she promoted to the California Medical Facility as a Correctional Lieutenant.
In August 1995, she promoted to Correctional Captain at CEN. She retired in December 1998.
In June 2000, she reinstated as a Correctional Captain at the Richard A. McGee Training Center, where she finished her career in December 2001.
