Retired CDCR instructor Thomas “Tom” Leonard passed away May 17, 2019, according to information supplied by his family.Tom Leonard Obit

After service in the U.S. Marine Corps, he joined CDCR in in 1961 and worked at Folsom Prison.

After a period in private business, he returned to CDCR in 1981 and worked at California Medical Facility.

He later taught at the Richard A. McGee Correctional Training Center.  He taught constitutional law and helping cadets develop their shooting accuracy.

During his career, he received numerous awards and commendations and earned his lifetime Instructor Credential through the University of California at Berkeley. He retired in 2001.
